Its name in Maya means 'path or cavity left by the running of water' alluding to the great moat that surrounds the main architectural ensembles of the place. This artificial moat is evidence of war activity between this and other surrounding sites. Although its buildings in general are very impressive, be sure to observe the lateral towers of Structure I or Structure IX with its 32 meters high.
