About Yagul Archaeological Zone

Yagul means in Zapotec "tree or old palo", is located on a steep hill in the Valley of Tlacolula to the east of the City of Oaxaca. One of the most interesting aspects of Yagul is the presence of mural painting on floors and walls of its structures, which have attracted the attention of scholars and art historians because of their similarity to Mitla.
