It was built in the second half of the sixteenth century by the Augustinians, who had in mind from there to evangelize the entire region of what is now Michoacán. Its size is not proportional to the small town that houses and even seems fortress perhaps because the Augustinians sought fend chichimecas. Now it is a museum that you can walk to admire its architecture
